About our plating.

How do I order?
Browse all the products we have on this site by clicking on the different categories at the top of the page. Within those categories you will see items and pictures of the products we sell. If there is a product you are interested in ordering or knowing more about, click on it's picture or sometimes the underlined description, which will take you to the item description, and a larger picture of the item. Where available, on the right side of the picture you will often see a pull down menu of color, size, or quantity options. You will also see the "add to basket" button on the bottom left side of the larger picture. At any time you can choose to view and edit the contents of your shopping basket by clicking on "basket contents" at the top of the page in any product description. Once you have completed your order, you can choose the "check out" option at the top right of any item description, which will take you through the checkout and payment process.
What are my payment options?
We accept the following credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. We also offer PayPal, Google Checkout, check payment and money order (see below) options.
Can I pay by check or money order?
In the checkout process you are able to select "check payment" for your order, pick this option also when paying by money order. Once you have completed your order, please mail the check or money order made payable to Ornamentea and send to the following address:

Please note that we hold your order until we receive your check. If sending a check or money order from outside the United States please be sure to mark dollar amounts as USD.
Is your checkout process secure?
Yes. We have a high-grade 256 bit encryption, secure pages are encrypted before being transmitted over the Internet.
Can I place an order by phone?
Yes, absolutely! If you prefer to place an order by phone please call our store at 919-834-6260 Monday through Saturday between 10am & 6pm EST. Make sure to have the item number, product description and quantity you need available for easy reference when you call.
When will my order ship?
We ship most orders within 1-5 business days, but our shop is small so please excuse us if we become overwhelmed and must take a little longer.
How is my order shipped?
Most domestic U.S. packages are shipped via USPS Priority Mail. Depending on where you live, your package should arrive 1 to 3 days after we ship it. Your shipping charge is based on the weight of your order. Your exact shipping cost can be calculated with the 'mini basket' on the item pages or during checkout. Below you'll find a chart for U.S. shipments with the approximate cost including handling fee by weight and state.

U.S. orders over $50 will be shipped free. HAZMAT (such as Eco-poxy craft resin), Metalsmithing tools, large rolled sheets of paper, and heavy items are not eligible for free shipping. Items that are not eligible for free shipping should have shipping details listed near their descriptions. We reserve the right to choose carriers and or method on any free shipping offers. We may choose USPS Priority Mail, First Class Mail, Parcel Post, or UPS Ground. Delivery times will vary based on your shipping address.

When can I come by the store to pick up my order?
Your order should be ready to pick up within 3 business days (Ornamentea.com business days are Monday through Friday.) We 'll send you an email letting you know as soon as your order is available for pickup.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We use USPS First Class Mail International for orders up to 4 pounds. Packages weighing more than 4 pounds are sent via USPS Priority or Express Mail International.. Your shipping charge is based on the weight of your order. Your exact shipping cost will be calculated during the checkout process. If there is a large discrepancy in shipping costs charged and what it actually costs to ship we will contact you by email or phone regarding the issue.

Please keep customs in mind:
For time concerns- We process and ship packages within the average of 1 to 5 days after receiving the order. Once we ship the package, time delays due to customs are out of our hands. If you are ordering internationally and time is a concern, email us at weborders@ornamentea.com to discuss expedited shipping in advance.

For import tax concerns- To comply with international shipping laws, we ship our packages marked with the customs CN 22 form that declares the contents as merchandise with its appropriate value. Any import taxes that customs may charge you are out of our hands and are part of importing goods from another country.
Do you accept returns?
We want you to be happy with your order. We will accept returns within 10 business days of unused merchandise in resellable condition. Email us at weborders@ornamentea.com for return authorization, address, and packing information. We reserve the right to refuse returns after inspecting the merchandise, or if no proper returning authorization was made. If your return is accepted, we will process your refund, any return for a refund may be subject to a 15% restocking fee. Shipping charges are non refundable. For credit card purchases we will credit your charge card for the amount minus shipping charges. If you paid with a check or money order we will issue a refund check within 30 days for the amount minus shipping charges.
Do you share or sell customer information?
No, we never share or sell your customer information. We use your info to contact you regarding orders you have placed here at our store, classes you may have signed up for, or other correspondence related to communication with you regarding your questions. We don't share or sell your info, ever.
Do you offer wholesale or quantity discounts?
We have what we call a "Designer Discount" which takes 20% off of any purchase over $100. The application forms for this can be found at the following web addresses: Please email the forms to us upon completion along with a copy of your wholesale license to weborders@ornamentea.com. Please send the completed forms as a pdf or image. After we receive your information, we'll send you a coupon code to use when placing qualifying orders. Our Plating
All plated items are solid brass based unless otherwise noted.
Our plating thickness is as follows:
  • Gold plate- 24 k gold plate 3-5 mils*
  • Silver plate- sterling silver plating (.999 fine silver over brass) 30 mils*
  • Antique brass- acrylic-based antique coating over solid brass 25 mils*
  • Antique copper- acrylic-based antique coating over copper plate 100-200 mils*
  • Imitation rhodium- 100-200 mils*
  • Gunmetal- 50 mils*
* ‘mils’ is short for millionths of an inch
