Hello there!
Ahh, it is so cold! We are happy to report that the heat at Ornamentea is finally really fixed and that the free coffee at Panopolie has had an upgrade*. Come on in and stay warm with the heat from your crafty fingers.
See you soon-
Cynthia

Super Yummy deal
Do you love Locopops? They are the most delicious popscicles made right in Durham, NC. The flavors range from the yummy (Strawberries & Cream) to the delicious and unusual (Mango Jalapeno!) All this month Locopops on Hillsborough St. in Raleigh is offering a super special deal; buy 5 Locopops and get a free bar of Escazu chocolate. Can you imagine the look of joy you can get when you show up at a friend's house with five delish Locopops and a bar of Escazu to share (or not, they won't need to know about the choc if you wish to keep it to yourself!) No coupon needed, just go in and ask for the Buy 5, Get 1 deal...

(yes, the parking is a bit wonky because of the construction, but the popsicles won't melt on the walk to your car!)

Fun indoor things to do this week:
Try-It Tuesday today at Panopolie and make this Wired Cuff bracelet. These cuffs look HARD to make but we have some tricks that you'll appreciate. All day at Panopolie, for just $2 a project. See all the details here.
We re-run the Try It Tuesday on Friday mornings from 8:30-10:00 at Breakfast and Beads!
Want to learn to hammer and work wire? try the Silver S-Link Bracelet class on Wednesday at Panopolie. This project looks amazing when you are finished. Click here for all the class details and a nice big picture of the finished project. Call Panopolie to register at 919-872-4767.
Felt! Yeah, we are introducing a per-gram price for wool roving. This means you can come into either of the stores and make a cute felt dog or pair of felted earrings at our worktables and only pay for the wool you use. If the cost of needle felting tools has kept you from trying this fun craft, well, now you can! Available now at Panopolie and Ornamentea. This doll is from a class at Panopolie on January 17th, read about the class here.

New classes are up at Panopolie.com and Ornamentea.com. We have some great new choices for you. Yes, you can use a gift certificate to pay for a class!

Get out your calendar:
We're having a reception for the new Steampunk Jewelry book contributors at Ornamentea on Friday, February the 5th. We'll have great food, good wine and many of the artists will be selling their work. This is a great chance to get your book signed and show off your own Steampunk style.

A great quote for the week:
Common sense and a sense of humor are the same thing. A sense of humor is just common sense dancing.  William James
(thanks to Garrison for that quote)

This week on the blog:
  • A shocking report on poison in children's jewelry makes me wonder about inexpensive imported findings at chain craft stores and low-cost websites. Read the post here.
  • Craft away cabin fever with Decopatch. Read about it here.
  • A new tutorial using the newest colors of beads from Elaine Ray. Read it here.

*Free Coffee at Panopolie? Yeah, we make it many days of the week and if we don't have any the folks next door at L'Espiga Bakery have some. THAT'S the upgrade, their coffee is way better than ours plus you can oogle the delish pastries and breads while you caffeinate yourself.
And remember, the yummy treats on Fridays at Breakfast & Beads are from L'Espiga!
