May 25, 2010: Memorial Week Craft Defenses

Hello there!
This is it, the last week of Spring. Oh, I know all about the equinoxes, but I mean the cultural Last Week Of Spring. Memorial Day is next Monday and that means Summer is upon us. The annual family get-togethers will now commence. Are you ready? Do you have at least five non-political Conversation Topics ready? I suggest crafts. Everyone loves crafts and with any luck, you'll get Aunt Sally so interested in the resin and wire she forgets her dentures. You need to be ready; Aunt Sally does not want to talk politics and literature with you. She wants to talk about her dentures. You will be stuck discussing dentures with Aunt Sally unless you have at least one new crafty idea to show her.

Take some time to learn something new this week:

Tuesday is Try-It Tuesday at Ornamentea. Come make a $2 project and learn something new. All day at our work table every Tuesday. See all the upcoming Try-Its right here.

Wednesday at Ornamentea is KidsWork Wednesday. Bring your 5-12 year old in for a project or two every Wednesday and you can enjoy a few peaceful moments watching your child create something new while you get a few minutes to finish up something you've been working on. Every Wednesday from 2:00-5:00, all projects $2.

Do you want to learn about bake-able resins? Join us on Thursday night at Ornamentea for Technique Thursday. This week you'll make a quick pendant using our favorite no-time-to-wait resin, Amazing Glaze. Each pendant is only $2 and we'll have a lot of do-dads to put in them.
Technique Thursday is EVERY Thursday at Ornamentea from 6:30-8:30.

Friday is Breakfast & Beads. Join us for some early-morning craft time at our work table. We'll have coffee, tea and breakfast treats ready to go for you. We also have fun activities for your child to do in our classroom. Shh-they won't know you are having fun!

Friday is also time for Studio Fridays. The talented Ndidi is there to help you with all your metal-smithing conundrums. She tries out new tools and plays with fire and acids. What could be more fun?  Please call to pre-register at 919-834-6260.

Saturday you should come learn how to wet felt with the talented Andrea Sousa.
She'll help you create a Felted Pouch and you don't have to worry about a thing-all supplies are included in the registration fee!
Class is Saturday, May 29th.

Call 919-834-6260 to register.

Take some time to relax in a class...

Remember-we are now open at 12:00 on Sundays and yes, we'll be open on Memorial Day. Bring Aunt Sally in for a few hours and we're happy to listen to her denture stories.

See you soon!
