Beaded Floral Circlet

This choker-style necklace is comfortable and easy to wear. Strung on Memory Wire, it holds shape and position without being too tight. The vintage beaded flowers are attached to a screen finding that holds them securely in a permanent bouquet.

A note about Memory Wire: because it is permanently coiled, this wire is very hard to measure using a ruler or tape. Each coil will expand slightly while retaining the circular shape and so it is measured in 'turns' with each turn being once around the circle. Memory Wire is also best cut with special Memory Wire cutters that snap the wire. The hardened steel of the wire will damage even the most heavy-duty wire cutters.

Ingredients:

- 1.25 turns of necklace memory wire (one and one-quarter circles)
- 1 Ice bead assortment
- 6 beaded petals
- 1 screen pendant, ½ inch
- 7 imitation rhodium jump rings, 9 mm
- 1 antique silver hook
- 2 imitation rhodium jump rings, 5 mm

Tools:

- Memory wire cutters
- Chain nose pliers
- Round nose pliers

1. Separate screen from pendant back. Feed flower stem through the screen front. Feed petal stems through the screen and check position of the petals. Turn screen over and use chain nose pliers to twist wire stems together to secure petals.

2. Place pendant back in middle of memory wire. Place the screen over the pendant back and flip both parts over. Using your chain nose pliers carefully bend the prongs on the pendant back to secure the screen. The screen pendant should be secured firmly in the center of the memory wire.

3. String ice beads along one side of the memory wire leaving ¾ inch of the wire uncovered. Using your round nose pliers loop the wire. Repeat on the other side of the pendant.

4. Using your chain nose pliers attach all the 9 mm jump rings to each other to create a chain. Using your chain nose pliers attach this chain on one side of the necklace using a 5 mm jump ring. On the other side of the necklace attach the hook using the remaining 5 mm jump ring.
