Cozy Colorwash Necklace

This soft necklace features our hand-dyed Cotton Floss and the tiny accents of 4x4 cube beads tucked in among the ruffles. The color changes are subtle and the necklace itself feels so good you never want to take it off.

The toggle is attached to the machine caps using super-strong stainless steel jump rings. While they are very hard to open, these jump rings are very secure and will not come undone. They are perfect for attaching clasps.

Finished length: 18 inches

Ingredients:

- 1 package of Cotton Ribbon Floss (10 meters)
- 2 antique silver machine caps
- 1 antique silver toggle
- 3 stainless steel jump rings, 6x7 mm
- 120 Toho cube beads, 4x4

Tools:

- 527 glue
- Scissors
- Fray Check
- Chain nose pliers
- 2 Bead Stoppers

1. Cut Ribbon Floss to 36 inch lengths. Line the strands up so that one end of the grouping is very even. Place a drop of 527 glue inside one of the machine caps. Hold the bundle of floss strands tightly in one hand and push down into the machine cap. Twist the bundle of floss strands so that the glue is evenly distributed. Place a Bead Stopper securely around the floss about 1 inch from the machine cap to secure the strands to one another.

2. Place a small drop of Fray Check on the end of one of the floss strands. Twist the floss strand to make a point and set aside for a few minutes to allow the fray check to dry. Repeat with remaining strands.

3. Thread 12 beads onto one strand of floss. Space the beads out along the length of the floss, both singly and in pairs. Carefully spread out the end of the strand and pull one thread. This will ruffle the floss. Carefully and gently continue pulling the ruffling thread, sliding the beads along the floss as you come to them. Pull the thread until the floss strand is approximately 17 inches long. Set this strand aside and repeat on remaining strands, getting all strands to be around 17 inches long.

4. Carefully bundle all strands and trim any loose ends including the ruffling threads. Place a drop of glue into a machine cap and fit the strands inside, twisting to distribute the glue. Crimp end of strands with Bead Stopper.

5. Use 2 stainless steel jump rings to attach the toggle bar. Use 1 stainless steel jump ring to attach the toggle loop.
