Create a happy heart charm using Japanese kimono cording and wire in just a few minutes. You can add the charm to necklaces as shown, or make them into earrings. Finished heart charms are approx 1.5 inches across.
1. Use knotting or chain nose pliers tuck the ends of the cording in so that no raw fabric is showing. You may need to pull and trim the cotton yard that it is inside the cording. Prepare both ends of the cording this way.
2. Use the base of your round nose pliers create a large coiled loop in one end of the wire. The coiled loop should be large enough that it will not fit through the cording. Straighten the remainder of the wire. Thread the uncoiled end of the wire through the cording so that the entire length of the wire is covered and only the coiled loop is exposed. Using your round nose pliers make a small loop in the end of the wire.
3. Create a V-shape out of the wire as shown. Bend the top curves of the heart around with your fingers so that the coiled loop and the small loop are overlapping in the middle of the heart. Open the small loop in the wire with your chain nose pliers and fit it around the base of the coiled loop. Close securely.
4. Thread a head pin through the glass bead. Loop with your round nose pliers to create a bead dangle. Use the 5 mm jump ring to attach this bead dangle to the loop in the center of the heart.
To attach the heart to a piece of jewelry use jump rings or tie on with ribbon.
You may choose to finish your charm by created a beaded chain with our hand beaded chain or by stringing it on our Greek leather.
