Key to Sparkle Necklace

Designer Tracey Johnson

This double-strand necklace features a cluster of Swarovski crystal dangles suspended from silk cord and delicate chain. If you prefer a stronger pop of color use a brighter silk or leather cord.

Finished length 16 inches

Ingredients

- 1 gray hand dyed rolled silk, from Neutral Assortment
- 12 light topaz Swarovski crystal drops
- 15 inches antique brass krinkle chain
- 1 link antique brass medium knurled oval chain, used as jump ring
- 12 links really round cable chain, used as jump rings
- 1 inch really round cable chain, used as extender chain
- 2 antique brass fold-over ends
- 1 old style repro key
- 1 antique brass jump ring, 5 mm
- 1 antique brass spring ring clasp, 7 mm

Tools:

- Chain nose pliers
- Wire cutters

1. Using scissors, trim rolled silk strand to 15 inches. Fit end of silk into fold-over end and use your chain nose pliers to flatten the fold-over tabs. Repeat on other end of silk strand.

2. Using your chain nose pliers open a 5 mm jump ring and feed the ring through the loop on one of the fold-over ends and then through the link on the end of the chain segment and through the end of the extender chain. Close securely. Using your chain nose pliers open the link on the spring ring clasp and feed it through the remaining fold-over end and the remaining end of the krinkle chain. Close securely.

3. Using your chain nose pliers open the medium knurled oval chain link and feed it through the repro key and around the silk strand and chain. Close securely.

4. Using your chain nose pliers open one link of really round cable chain and feed it through the loop on a Swarovski crystal dangle and around the silk strand and chain. Close securely. Repeat, placing 6 crystal dangles on each side of the repro key.
