Midnight Shimmer Necklace
Use feathers and a bit of Swarovski sparkle to create this tie-on long necklace. Perfect for layering over a loose sweater and jeans.
Ingredients
- 66 inches Swarovski crystal chain, cut into 3-22 inch pieces- 6 crimp on crystal chain ends
- 1 fold over end
- 2 feathers
- 1 Swarovski rhinestone ball
- 1 head pin, 1 inch
- 1 round jump ring, 11 mm
- 2 rectangular jump rings
- 24 inches deerskin lacing, cut into 2-12 inch pieces
Tools
- Chain nose pliers- Wire cutters
- Round nose pliers
1. Trim quill and feathers to desired shape. Fit the end of the feathers into the fold-over end so that the front of the feather faces downward. Insert chain or fibers at this time..Fold the edges of the fold-over end down around the feathers using chain nose pliers. Note: the feathers may twist when the fold-over end is crimped down.
2. Attach the crimp on ends to the rhinestone chain using chain nose pliers.
3. Attach the oval jump rings to the ends the crimp on ends.
4. Using your chain nose pliers open a rectangular jump ring and feed it through the oval jump rings on one end of the chains. Repeat on the other end of the chains.
5. Feed the head pin through the rhinestone ball and create a loop using your round nose pliers. Open the 11 mm jump ring and feed it through the fold-over end and through the loop on the rhinestone ball. Close securely around the rhinestone chain lengths.
6. Tie the pieces of leather onto the rectangular jump rings using square knots.
