Till Death Do Us Part Necklace

Designer Cynthia Deis

This romantic necklace has a tiny stone skull buried in a bouquet of vintage beaded petals. The adjustable closure lets you wear it as a choker or as a looser necklace.

Ingredients

- 12 inches white crocheted cotton lace
- 1 large antique brass oval dapped filigree disc
- 7 vintage beaded petals, assorted colors
- 1 white howlite skull bead
- 4 inches antique brass wire, 22 gauge
- 3 inches antique brass medium knurled oval chain
- 2 antique brass ribbon ends, ½ inch
- 1 antique brass hook

Tools:

- Wire cutters
- Chain nose pliers
- E-6000 glue
- Scissors

1. Fit one end of the lace into a ribbon end. Using your chain nose pliers crimp the end down on the lace. You may need to gather the end of the lace slightly to get it to fit the ribbon end. Repeat this to attach the ribbon end to the lace. Set lace aside.

2. Feed the section of wire through the skull bead. Thread the wire through the front of the filigree disc and twist the wire ends together on the back of the filigree. Trim excess wire.

3. Feed the wire end of a vintage leaf through the front of the filigree near the skull bead. Feed the remaining vintage leaves through the filigree, positioning them as you wish. Twist the wire ends together on the back of the filigree to secure the leaves. Trim wire ends.

4. Fold all the twisted wire ends on the back of the filigree towards the center. Place a drop of E-6000 or another thick glue over the wires. Trim the wire on the remaining vintage leaf and place the leaf over the center of the back of the filigree, pressing it into the glue. Turn the filigree over so that the front is facing upward and allow to dry for 24 hours.

5. Remove three links from the section of chain. Feed one link through the hook and through one of the ribbon ends. Close securely with chain nose pliers. Using your chain nose pliers attach the remaining chain to the other ribbon end. Locate the two openings at the top of the oval filigree and determine where in the lace you want to attach the pendant. Thread one of the chian links through an opening on the filigree and then through the lace. Close securely.. Repeat with remaining chain link.

Alternatives: use a rhinestone bead instead of the skull or metallic gold lace in place of the white lace.
