Woven Bead Collar

This necklace is created by weaving the beading wire through the beads in a series of loops. Each loop is created by stringing a line of beads and then going back through the previous line to hook the loop. Do not be afraid of the complex directions; take a few seconds to look at the drawings before reading the directions and you may be able to figure out the necklace. Remember, if you loop up a few sections and they don't seem right you can always pull the beading wire out of the beads and start over!

Ingredients

- 77 round Czech glass druk beads
- 2 yards beading wire (we recommend Soft Flex)
- 26 round metal beads, 2 mm
- 2 crimp covers
- 2 tube crimps, #2 size
- 1 yard ribbon, cut into two equal lengths

Tools

- Chain nose pliers
- Wire cutters
- Scissors
- Bead clamps

Instructions

1.String a line of 11 glass beads onto the beading wire and position them at the center of the wire. Place a bead clamp on one end of the wire. Using the other end of the wire, cross back through the last two beads (A - see diagram below) in the line to make a loop as shown. Position the loop of beads so that the clamped end of the wire is on your left. You will work from the right hand side. You will bead one side of this necklace first and then go back and bead the other side.

2.String a line of 5 glass beads on the wire. Count down from the cross-over point two beads (B )and string your wire through those two beads and then through the first bead in your 5-bead line (C).

3. String a line of 4 glass beads on the wire. Count over 1 bead from the last cross over point ( C) and string your wire through that bead (D) and then back through the first two beads in your 4-bead line (E).

4.String a line of 4 glass beads on the wire. Count over 1 bead from the last cross over point (E) and string your wire through that bead (F) and then back through the first bead in your 4-bead line (G).

5. String a line of 4 glass beads on the wire. Count over 1 bead from the last cross over point (G) and string your wire through that bead (H) and then back through the first two beads in your 4-bead line (I).

6.String a line of 4 glass beads on the wire. Count over 1 bead from the last cross over point (I) and string your wire through that bead (J) and then back through the first bead in your 4-bead line (K).

7.String a line of 3 beads on the wire. Count over 1 bead from the last cross over point (K) and string your wire through that bead (L) and then back through the first bead in your 3-bead line (M).

8.String a line of 3 beads on the wire. Count over 1 bead from the last cross over point (M) and string your wire through that bead (N) and then back through the first bead in your 3-bead line (O).

9.String a line of 3 beads on the wire. Count over 1 bead from the last cross over point (O) and string your wire through that bead (P) and then back through the first bead in your 3-bead line (Q).

10.String a line of 3 beads on the wire. Count over 1 bead from the last cross over point (Q) and string your wire through that bead (R) and then back through the first bead in your 3-bead line (S).

11. String 1 crimp and 13 metal beads onto your wire. Cross back through the last druk in your line (T) and the through the crimp. Using your chain nose pliers flatten the crimp. Using your chain nose pliers apply the crimp cover to hide the crimp.

12.Working from 2 complete the other side of the necklace.

13. Thread the silk ribbon through the beaded loops and secure with square knots to complete the necklace. Alternatively, use chain to finish the sides of the necklace.
