Laurel Rupe

Laurel is a Raleigh-based mixed media artist whose paper arts talents include creating handbound books and jewelry. Her soldered glass jewelry classes combine paper arts and adornment. These classes are a staff favorite!

Due to the intense heat of the soldering irons, these classes are limited to participants 16 years old and older.

 
 

Memento Pendant

Learn the basics of lead-free glass soldering while sealing an image of collage in glass. Some collage materials are available, please feel free to bring your own. Tools are provided.

Shadow Box Pendant

Create your own little traveling diorama in this class. Laurel will teach you to create a scene in a matchbox and encase it in glass and soldered foil. These pendants make great gifts with a personal touch. Tools are provided.

Weathered Bezel Setting

Would you like to create your own components? Laurel will teach you to make your own bezel setting using simple ingredients, stained glass solder and a little patina. In this class, open to all levels, you will leave with a completed pendant filled with resin and your favorite trinket. Some supplies and tools are provided.

Arabesque Pendant

Create a beautiful, vintage-esque pendant in the stained-glass-soldering style using antique textiles and papers. If retro is not your thing, use more contemporary textiles, paper, and embellishments. Either way you will make a pendant that is sure to be a showstopper. This class is open to beginners!
